The cul de sac was always there
A huge pine sat in the middle
When I was younger
When it was taken down
It opened up the whiffle ball diamond
And the street hockey rink
The gridiron for touch football
The board in front of the sewer
Was the sentry to Warwick's underground
It kept out the tennis ball when
Our slapshot missed the goal
It kept out the whiffle ball when
We fouled off a curveball
It also kept out the rainwater
Which piled up on Eddie Kay's yard
Until he came out with his T-shirt and
Threw our board into the woods
Where it would sit
Until the next game of pickle
